Development Assistant – Cahaba Valley Health Care

 

Summary

Reporting primarily to the Development Director (DD) and the Executive Director (ED), the Development Assistant (DA) will be involved in all aspects of development for Cahaba Valley Health Care.   The DA will make sure the Benevon fundraising model is implemented fully, assist the DD in the pursuit funding and grants, assume responsibility for Junior Board activities and work closely with the Board.  This is a full time position with flexible hours.  Occasional nights and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

Successful experience in a not-for-profit setting or business field desired. Excellent writing skills, in English, and computer skills, especially word processing, data management, and mail merge required.  Knowledge of E-tapestry is a plus.  Strong relationship building and solicitation skills required.  A willingness to develop new skills in support of fundraising, fund development and tracking software, and Benevon model important. Exudes energy and credibility that attracts, keeps, and motivates clients, volunteers and other staff members.  Ability to speak Spanish desirable.

Responsibilities

 

  1. Fundraising
  • Full implementation of Benevon model
  • Point of entry events
  • See More Smiles annual fundraising breakfast (major event)
  • Free Feel Good events
  • Call all donors after each donation (monthly donors twice a year)
  • Breakfast fundraiser preparation
    • Prepare supply list
    • Format to prepare printing of tent cards and table number cards
    • Print programs and get volunteers to fold
    • Update FAQs and print
    • Prepare table captain packets-print all info and put packets together
    • Prepare spreadsheet with last year’s pledge info to receive updated financial results and prepare stats sheet to use new pledge info to create up to date pledge stats.
    • Use 2016 Breakfast folder as guide
  • After breakfast
    • Input pledges and donations on spreadsheet to generate 1st day results report and stat report
    • Record new and updated pledges in eTap and set up payment schedules in accordance with each donor’s instructions
    • Generate by computer and mail personalized TY letter to each person who donated or pledged at the breakfast
  • Assist with other fundraising events as needed
  • Print mailing labels for newsletter mailouts, Christmas Ask mail out, and special event mail outs, using mailmerge.
  • Cultivation of individual and corporate donors
  • Coordinate annual Pastor’s Lunch and other similar events
  • Twice a year—run report to pinpoint people who are not up to date on their pledges and send out reminder letters to any accounts in arrears
  • Other fundraising assistance as needed

2. Junior Board

  • Engage and maintain Junior Board in their involvement with CVHC and fundraising activities
  • Coordinate with Board liaison for Junior Board

3. Media and Publicity

  • Develop newsletter twice a year
  • Maintain and oversee website
  • Maintain and oversee facebook, twitter and other accounts
  • Identify and facilitate other publicity activities
  • Responsible for screening and agency publicity

4. Database and other clerical activities

  • Enter and maintain current all donors and donations
  • Keep track of donations pending and bill donors
  • Process credit card donations
  • Send yearly summary letter of donations to donors for IRS
  • Write and mail thank you letters to donors
  • Input volunteer contact info into etap after each screening and each clinic

5. Other activities

  • Attend and report at all Board meetings
  • Attend and report to Finance Committee as needed
  • Participate in strategic planning activities
  • Other fund development or publicity activities as assigned by ED.
  • Calculate value of volunteer hours yearly
  • Log CEU’s for volunteer dentists and hygienists and send out letters awarding CEUs
  • Design and print certificates of appreciation for dentists

 

 

 

Salary: $35,000/year or 17.50/hour

Benefits: Insurance allowance to cover health insurance.
