Responsible directly to the Executive Director for the effective and efficient implementation of the Donor Recognition Plan and Major Giving Initiatives for Montgomery Area Council On Aging (MACOA). The Director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 125 – 150 donors and prospects. This position is responsible for planning and directing the annual Senior Pledge Campaign and any Direct Mail Solicitations for MACOA. This person will perform major donor solicitations with prospects identified from new sources as well as through a moves management system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Director of Development with the preparation of a comprehensive annual fundraising plan for the organization

Implements the major donor development strategy as part of the comprehensive annual fundraising plan

Plans and directs the Senior Pledge Campaign and works closely with the staff and the Board of Directors to exceed the annual goal

Produces the collateral piece for the Senior Pledge Campaign to show impact of MACOA’s services in the community and the publication will be utilized as the organization’s Annual Report

Prepares and directs the Donor Recognition Plan and tracks donors in development software database, DonorPerfect, who move to the next level

Works closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Development to implement strategies to meet and exceed the annual fundraising goals for MACOA

Works with vendor to select, prepare, and evaluate Direct Mail Campaigns and implements ninety day plan for new donors that result from campaigns

Writes and prepares End of Year Letter for current donors

Supplies report on move management progress and major gifts solicitations at monthly development team meetings and data on donors such as donor retention once a year

Maintains an active schedule of solicitations, cultivation visits, events and stewardship activities and close at least 40 personal solicitations per year

Partners with Executive Director, Director of Development and Board members on major solicitations

Helps motivate and mobilize Board members and other volunteers to engage in solicitations and other cultivation activities

Tracks all donor and prospect interactions through Donor Perfect database

Assists Director of Development with some grant applications and other responsibilities as required or assigned by the Executive Director

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

Ability to build relationships with major donors and prospects and motivate and mobilize Board members and other volunteers to engage in solicitations

Act as a strong ambassador for MACOA among internal staff and with external constituencies

Maintain visibility in the community and frequently attend community events

Develop and implement long range plans for donor engagement and involvement

Identify opportunities to seek and obtain endowment gifts to MACOA

Ability to exercise sound, logical judgment and make accurate and timely decisions

Ability to understand standard budgeting and accounting procedures and assist with preparing and implementing budgets for the department’s planned activities

Understanding of and commitment to the mission of MACOA

Ability to consistently prepare reports and correspondence in a clear, accurate, professional and grammatically correct manner

BA degree (required) and a minimum of 5 years experience in fund raising, marketing, sales and/or public relations (required)

Supervision/management experience (required)

Computer skills (required) and knowledge of DonorPerfect (preferred)

WORK SCHEDULE CATEGORY: 36 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend activities
