Description

The Foundry Ministries, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Facilities Assistant Manager. The Facilities Assistant Manager is responsible for providing hands on labor on all projects, repairs, system emergencies, landscaping, and scheduled maintenance of facilities and grounds primarily on the Bessemer campus. The Facilities Assistant Manager will also coordinate maintenance services with staff at The Foundry Farm in Cullman, CLCC, and the thrift stores in Fairfield, Pell City, Cullman, and Pelham upon request. It is the duty of the Facilities Assistant Manager to hold to the mission, vision, and core values of The Foundry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Facilities:

  • Performs unskilled and/or routine semi-skilled work independently as assigned
  • Oversees, coaches, and instructs program participants in the performance of their tasks and assignments
  • Builds trust with vendors and maintains positive relationships with outside contractors and other support personnel
  • Assists with and/or makes minor repairs to landscaping equipment, power tools, hand tools, and electrical extension cords
  • Collaborates with Facilities Manager to manage daily maintenance requests, including repairs to buildings and other structures; carpentry; special projects; basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC service needs; and landscaping; follows up on all work requests
  • Maintains consistent communication with Chief Logistics Officer and Facilities Manager; immediately reports complex and/or complicated problems for guidance and direction
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and knowledge of basic maintenance, construction, painting, and landscaping techniques
  • Operates and services equipment as required
  • Displays willingness to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate special requests and/or emergencies
  • Performs strenuous physical activity in all types of weather conditions
  • Reads and interprets blueprints; follows directions in assembling equipment; calculates materials and labor costs
  • Follows safety guidelines at all times and provides ongoing safety training for program participants

Employment Readiness Program Management:

  • Ensure that program participants consistently provides exemplary customer service
  • Communicate with recovery staff on issues and concerns
  • Evaluate program participants per program phase guidelines and participate in weekly phase meetings as requested
  • Submit program participant disciplinary reports as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate, or GED
  • OSHA Certification a plus

Experience:

  • Mechanical aptitude or any combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required.

Requirements:

  • Current state issued driver license
  • Clean driving record and must be approved by the ministry insurance provider
  • Strong interpersonal skills; proven ability to resolve issues in a calm and efficient manner
