The world headquarters of Civitan International in Birmingham, Alabama, is hiring a Membership Specialist for its Junior Civitan program. Civitan International is a group of service clubs from across the globe, dedicated to making a difference in their communities. The organization’s specific focus is supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Membership Specialist for Junior Civitan will be expected to fulfill the following duties:
• Support members who are a part of a Junior Civitan club in junior high and high schools across the world, specifically filling the role of staff liaison to the Junior Civitan International Board of Directors, the program’s advisors, other officers, and various representatives
• Develop strategy to expand the program into areas where it doesn’t exist
• Plan and execute the annual Junior Civitan convention
• Plan, support, and/or execute various fundraisers connected with Junior Civitan
• Produce and distribute collateral that promotes the program and updates members on its progress
• Help manage the program’s website and social media platforms
• Create and facilitate trainings for members
• Maintain member, program and fundraising records
• Facilitate workshops at other Civitan functions (including the adult convention)
• Work with other team members at Civitan to further the mission of the entire organization
• And, other various tasks related to the success of the Junior Civitan program and other programs of Civitan
Qualifications for this position include:
• A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or any non-profit related major
• Some event planning experience, whether professional or volunteer
• Some volunteer management experience, whether professional or volunteer
• The ability to take initiative but also ask for help when needed
• Well-developed written and verbal skills
• Strong interpersonal manner
• The ability to see the big picture, but be detail driven
• The ability to travel when needed
• Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner
• Strong computer skills, experience with Blackbaud products a plus
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
