Organization Summary:
Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center (Forge) offers support, knowledge, strength, and direction to breast cancer survivors and their loved ones. Forge is a partnership created by Brookwood Baptist Health, The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, Grandview Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Health System, and UAB Medicine. Through Forge, all those touched by breast cancer can bond with others to Forge a new future.

Job Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for managing and implementing volunteer-related objectives. The Volunteer Coordinator will also work closely with Forge staff members to provide direct services to breast cancer survivors and their loved ones.

Responsibilities:
• Recruit, interview, train, and manage Forge volunteers
• Participate in planning volunteer-related activities events and preparing the budget for these activities
• Measure and report volunteer-program outcomes
• Assist Forge Manager with dissemination of promotional materials and marketing of volunteer-related programs
• Lead and implement volunteer trainings
• Participate in community support groups; Assist with transitioning current rural and metastatic support services and developing future services
• Participate in community outreach, presentations, and events
• Provide direct services to clients including:
• Telephone support services
• Match clients with volunteers
• Compile information and resources for clients with volunteers
• Administer follow-up assessments for clients with volunteers
• Other duties as assigned

Complexity of Work:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Candidate must demonstrate ability to maintain professional boundaries, excellent problem-solving skills, superior attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's level degree; Advanced degree preferred
Licensed Social Worker, Counselor, or similar qualifications required

Work Experience:
Three years of related experience in one or more of the following areas, preferably in a non-profit setting: experience in managing and overseeing a group of volunteers that perform various duties, human resources, case management, talent management and/or recruitment

Additional preferred qualifications:
• Valid driver's license and transportation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and Google applications
